So when it comes to art and I guess this for me also applies to photography as well, I don't have favourite artists or photographers but I have favourite pieces. As I am still finding pieces of photography I like, I thought I would tell you about the piece of art that I have loved since I saw it in 2010 at the Tate Modern gallery in London.
The piece is called Black Virtue by an artist commonly known as Matta but his name is Roberto Sebastian Antonio Matta Echaurren. If you want to know more about him Tate Modern have a bio on him - Matta Bio
From the moment I saw this piece I was drawn to it and still am to this day. I'm not sure what it is about this piece that I love so much, it could be the use of lines, colours, the fact that it is in three panels but I know I can feel emotion from this painting and I love that I get lost within the painting every single time.
When I did design last year I used this piece as a basis for my research and I didn't know anything about art at all, I found out this piece is abstract and that a lot of art pieces and some photography I like are abstract too. I remember when I got my feedback for design I got an interesting comment from my tutor which said "You seem to have quite an intuitive connection to certain abstract imagery and paintings, such as by the artist Roberto Matta."
Thanks for reading this and I hope you like it as much as I do!!!
Feel free to leave any comments :D
Lots of Love
